Mac OS 11 is changing to Mac OS 12, what you need to know

Apple has a major operating system update on way for your computer.

Mac OS 11 is making way for Mac OS 12 - aka Monterey.   As your awesome Regina based Apple repair store we want to share a couple of suggestions to help make the update relatively trouble free.

Before updating, verify that your computer is compatible with the new version.  Apple users also have new requirements from previous Mac OS versions.  As with previous OS version updates, it is important that you verify that you have sufficient storage space available, approx 35GB free.  This is VERY important.  Not having enough free space may cause serious problems when attempting the update.  We can't tell you how many people came in after trying to update their Mac, and had a failed update due to insufficient space.

The Mac OS 12 technical requirements are as follows:

• 12-inch MacBook (early 2016 and later)
• MacBook Air (early 2015 and later)
• MacBook Pro (early 2015 and later)
• Mac mini (late 2014 and later)
• iMac (late 2015 and later)
• iMac Pro (2017 and later)
• Mac Pro (late 2013 and later).

After verifying that your computer can handle the update make sure you have a backup of your important data.

Whether you are running a Mac or PC, major OS updates occasionally do funny things resulting in possible loss of data.  A backup of your important files will help you get back and running should you have a problem installing the update.

Please note that the above information can change once the official update(s) roll out.

We hope the above information proves useful.
