Do you have to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11?

If you are a Windows 10 user you may have noticed that Windows 11 is out as an upgrade for your computer. If your computer is not fully compatible for the 10 to 11 upgrade you may be getting the message that your computer is "at risk". Is this true? Not entirely - Windows 11 includes certain security features that are hardware dependant, which is not the case for Windows 10.

While you may not be able to upgrade from 10 to 11, you may still be able to run Windows 11 on your Windows 10 capable computer, as a clean install.   We have tested this in the office and on relatively current computers, that are not on the list of "Windows 11" compatible hardware, we have been able to install and run Windows 11 easily and effectively.

Secondly Windows 10 will continue to be supported until October 14th 2025. This means your computer will still receive regular security updates from Microsoft free of charge.

This means you still have lots of time to keep using your Windows 10 computer before you need to upgrade.
