Customers have been asking, what will quantum computers do to my Bitcoin?
Quantum computers and Ai are upon us. It was only about 10 years ago that BitCoin (BTC) was nothing but a "dodgy" scheme for drug dealers and nerds. It was trading around 3000-5000$ a coin and it was just really starting to take off. Many people, from various walks of life bought in, and now it has seen prices as high ar 126,000$ USD in 2025.
Like it or not crypto "assets" are here to stay and they are part of a list of assets people invest in. Are they safe? Well they are highly speculative and risky, but the point of this post is to talk about its "safety". Technology changes rapidly. With the push for AI and quantum computing the boundaries of what is achievable are being pushed further and further. IBM and other big names in the tech industry see quantum computers being able to break BitCoin and Etherium encryption as early as 2028. Will they do it? Who know, but be assured SOMETHING is going to happen to crypto as we know it.
How to protect oneself. Well like Y2K, "Qday" as it's called, the day quantum computers are able to break BitCoin's encryption will very likely be a non issue. For those of you who lived through Y2K, planes did not fall from the sky, banks machines didn't spit money out on to the street and all of us got on with our lives. This will very likely be the case with Qday. Many systems are already moving to quantum proof encryption, this includes web browsers etc.
Crypto currency however, the asset itself may be at risk. To mitigate the risk of someone breaking a currency's encryption and stealing the asset, individuals and institutions have been moving them into Quantum secure wallets. Some folks are also buying Quantum secure crypto as a "hedge", just in case something does happen to the value of BTC and ETH. Some experts suggest 5% of ones holdings should be in Quantum secure currency.
We looked around and as we see it the best one out there, at the time of time wring is QRL. Quantum Resistant Ledger is a block chain platform secured by eXtended Merkle Tree Signature Scheme (XMSS). XMSS is a secure digital signature scheme. An externally audited enterprise-grade block chain platform. It is independently audited and tradable on secondary exchanges like MECx and Bitmart.
So if you are worried. Take a look at QRL. For more information you can check out their website here:
